Are you planning to buy a new car and need clarification on the available options? If yes, then you have landed on the right platform. As there are a vast number of cars available in the sub 4 meter SUV segment, the comparison for Maruti Suzuki Fronx vs Tata Punch may be a little hard, as both have their own charm and a different road presence.
Let us critically compare the Tata Punch which was launched in October 2021 with the all-new Maruti Fronx. Maruti has just launched the all-new Maruti Fronx for which the bookings at a nominal amount of ten to fifteen thousand may vary from state to state. The Fronx is launched at an Ex-Showroom Price of 7.5 Lakhs and goes up to 13.2 Lakhs with 9 color options, and available in 2 engine options, i.e 1.2 petrol and 1.0 and 3 Transmission options.
Let us help you choose between the Tata Punch and the Maruti Fronx by analyzing which car offers the best performance that would fit into your budget so that you are satisfied with the best buy in the market.
Engine:
The Tata Punch has a 1.2Ltr Revotron Petrol engine, and the Maruti Fronx has a 1.2Ltr Dual Jet Petrol Engine. It can be said that both have a similar machine, but the Fronx wins the game here by delivering a power of 89 BHP @ 6000 RPM compared to the Tata Punch which Delivering 84 BHP @ 6000 RPM, and a torque of 113Nm @ 4400 RPM, and 115Nm@3300 RPM respectively. The Fronx also offers a 1.0Ltr 3-cylinder Turbo Boost engine, delivering 99 BHP@ 5500 RPM.
Fuel:
As per the norms and new rules, both manufacturers have opted out of manufacturing a diesel engine for these respective cars. Only petrol engines are available for both cars. This may be seen as a benefit as this increases the validity of the car in most of the cities. The Fronx claims a mileage of 21.79 kilometers per Litre, whereas on the other hand, the Punch claims a mileage of 20.09 kilometers per Litre, and share the same fuel tank capacity of 37 Litres. The comparison here is negligent as both cars will give a similar mileage in the city.
Safety:
When you buy a car for yourself, or your loved ones, the first thing that comes to your mind is how safe are we while driving, for which NCAP has helped us by testing vehicles and giving us results so we can decide what would be the safest option while buying a car. The Tata Punch has a 5 Star Rating, making it one of the safest cars in this segment. The Fronx is yet to be tested, but looking at the history of NCAP ratings for Maruti cars, the ratings are expected to be lower when compared with the Tata Punch, but the Fronx comes with 6 Airbags, whereas the Tata Punch only comes with 2 airbags even in the top-of-the-line variant, which could be a plus point when it comes to safety. The Fronx again wins here as the Tata Punch does not offer Hill control in the car.
Breaking & Traction:
The cars come with a disk in the front, and Drum brakes at the rear. Both, the Tata Punch and Maruti Fronx come with ABS & EBD from the Base variant, but other features like Hill control, and Traction control would cost you a little extra and can be seen in higher variants of the cars. The features may vary from the variant you choose, as the Tata Punch comes in more than 25 Variants, and the Maruti Fronx has approximately 10 variants to choose from.
Infotainment & Entertainment:
As technology is advancing day after day, both cars will satisfy your entertainment needs, creating a better experience during the time you spend in your car. Both cars offer phone and audio streaming, AM/FM, AUX compatibility, Bluetooth, and USB compatibility, and also have Apple Car Play & Android Auto Inbuilt and come with a touchscreen display, but the Tata Punch loses here as it does not offer Wireless Apple Car Play & Android Auto in any of their variants. In Maruti FRONX vs Tata Punch Comparison, the Fronx has an upper hand when it comes to the size of the display, by offering a 9-inch display, which is 2 inches more than what you get to see in the Tata Punch. There is no comparison in the number of speakers, as both the cars offer 6 speakers, but the sound quality in Tata is expected to be slightly better when compared to Maruti.
Service and Maintenance:
The Tata Punch offers a warranty of 3 years, upto 1 lakh kilometers, and could be extended by the packages offered by dealers, which may vary from state to state, The warranty for Maruti Fronx is yet to be disclosed, but keeping in mind the reliability of Maruti Cars, it is expected that Maruti won’t disappoint its fans. When it comes to repair costs and availability of spare parts, Maruti tops the list. Therefore the maintenance is expected to be much lower when compared with Tata.
Other Features:
- Automatic climate control: Both cars have eliminated the old-school knob for fan speed, and offer automatic climate control. This may vary from variant to variant, as it may not be seen in the lower variants.
- Turn indicators on ORVMs: Both cars offer turn indicators on ORVMs and are electronically adjustable and retractable.
- Wireless Charging: As most phones offer wireless charging, the Fronx will help you charge your phone wirelessly, which is not seen in the Tata Punch.
- Cameras: The Tata Punch comes with a reverse camera for easy parking, but the Fronx offers a 360-degree camera that would let you access the sides also while reversing the car.
- Anti-Glare Mirrors: The Maruti Fronx comes with Electronic anti-glare mirrors, but the Tata Puch has missed another thing, making Fronx a better deal in the market.
The cars are manufactured by companies that have a totally different history of selling cars in the Indian market. One being the most reliable, and one having a negative history in the automobile industry. As the re-entry of Tata in the Automobile Market was unbelievable, and record-breaking, both would give tough competition to each other in the Indian market. However, if you are planning to buy a car on an immediate basis, Tata Punch would be a better option as Maruti Fronx is expected to have a longer waiting period, but that could be solved if you are ready to pay a premium to your dealership and park it in front of your house as soon as possible. The decision-making should solely be based on what features are you ready to pay for as per the requirements of the customer. If you have more questions, feel free to reach out to us anytime.
